Sleep is important to health and well-being. Since the 1970s there has been a worldwide decrease in the average hours people sleep. Here we discuss five different environmental factors that influence your sleep.
Sleep is essential, ensure your bedroom is set up to ensure you can get the best rest possible.
Ideally sleep in cool environment, it has been suggested that 16-18oC is preferable.
Ensure quite sleep environment.
Can use a white noise machine or music to aid sleep.
Artificial light influences the timing of internal body clock.
Use amber lights after sunset.
It is best to sleep in a dark room with black out blinds.
4. Bed comfort
The mattress that you sleep on is very important and should be replaced every 7-10 years.
The mattress and bed frame should be metal free to reduce exposure to EMF.
Use the bed just for sleeping.
5. Electronic distractions
Keep all electronic devices out of bedroom.
Avoid looking at screen a few hours before bed.
